Working with an Independent Financial Adviser at key times of your life can have a beneficial impact on your financial wellbeing. That saying, “we don’t plan to fail, but we fail to plan”, has never been more relevant.

Remember that financial planning is unique to your circumstances. Acting now can help you live the life you want to lead.

Here are some of the key areas that we can help you with-

Buying a home

A mortgage is often the biggest and most important financial commitment of your life.

Our team of experienced mortgage advisers are here to help you every step of the way. We can help you work out your budget to see how much you can afford to spend on your mortgage. We will look at all the mortgages available and recommend the best deal for you.

Starting a family

Our financial planners can help adapt to your changing circumstances. This may be looking at savings for your children’s future or reviewing health and life protection policies to see that they meet your new circumstances.

Investing for your future

A financial planner will help you set your financial objectives over the short, medium and long term. They will help you to understand your attitude to investment risk and help you plan accordingly to ensure you meet your financial goals.

Financial Planning when going through a divorce

To start with, going through a divorce is never easy. Your financial planner will help you understand how your financial position may change. You must understand how your circumstances may change so that you obtain a fair financial settlement. Furthermore, your adviser will help you plan your new financial life going forward.

The passing away of a loved one

After a bereavement, there is likely to be changes in your financial situation. Your financial planner can help you understand what choice you have going forward and help to resolve any immediate issues.

Coming up to retirement

Over the years our expectation for retirement may change. Your financial planner can help you build up a retirement pot in a tax-efficient way. Making a few adjustments now can have a major impact on what your retirement will look like.

Maintaining your family wealth

Passing your wealth onto the next generation is usually high on most peoples lists. A financial planner will help you move your wealth onto the next generation in a tax-efficient way while ensuring that you have enough money to uphold your financial security in later life.

How Anstee & Co can help you with your Financial Planning

Financial planning can provide security now and in years to come.

We are a firm of Independent Financial Advisers (IFA’s). This means that the advice we provide is unbiased. We feel that it is important that you understand the difference between independent and restricted advice. Restricted advisers will recommend only certain types of products or a range from a limited number of providers. Independent advisers like ourselves will recommend products from across the market.

Why not arrange an appointment today to see how we can help you? The initial, “getting to know you” meeting is at our expense and without obligation. Meetings can be arranged at a time and location that is convenient for you. We have seen fluctuations in stock markets around the world, which are now showing signs of recovery as we move into what is being called the “new normal”. Without a doubt, we are all going to have to live different lives. So, planning for our financial future has never been more important.

In these uncertain times, it is only natural to be concerned about the health of our finances. With countries declaring war on the virus, the implication of shutting borders and factories is going to be felt by the world economy for some time to come. However, we must not lose sight of the bigger picture, for when we come out from the other side of this crisis.

Don’t worry about things you cannot control in these uncertain times. Instead, be proactive about the things you can. Making use of tax allowances, keep up to date on the value of your assets and make sure your financial paperwork is in order.

Inheritance tax is a tax on your assets that belong to you when you die. Each person can pass on up to £325,000 (£650,000 for a couple) without their heirs having to pay any inheritance tax (IHT). Above this amount, the estate is taxed at the current rate of 40% tax year 2018/19.

Main residence nil-rate band.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer introduced the main residence nil rate band last year at £100,000. This allowance has from April now increased to £125,000 per person (£250,000 jointly). This allowance can be claimed by individuals whose estate includes the main family home.

Who can claim this allowance?

This allowance can only be claimed by “direct descendants”. This is defined by the tax office as children and grandchildren. It also includes adopted and foster children and stepchildren.

How Anstee & Co can help you with Inheritance Tax.

It is never too soon to start planning you’re financial future. A few key adjustments now can save your estate paying more tax than it should. This means that more of your hard-earned wealth will go to your loved ones rather than the tax man.

Why not contact us today to arrange a free initial meeting. The meeting is without obligation and allows us to show you the areas where money in your estate could be saved.

According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), there were 101,055 divorces in the United Kingdom in 2015. This is a 9 per cent reduction from 2014. Getting divorced can have an impact on your pension.

The average age for getting divorced is increasing. Furthermore, for men, the age is now over 45 and for women just under 44. These figures may reflect that younger people are not getting married in the first place.

One of the consequences is that the financial aspects of divorce are getting more complicated. The longer couples live the greater time they have to increase their wealth. With the increase in property and pension values over time.

Solicitors are now working with pension specialists.

We are seeing solicitors advising on divorce now working more closely with qualified and experienced independent financial advisers.

Pensions are a vital part of the financial wealth and the Courts will often either order that the value of a pension should be split between the parties or that it should be taken into account as part of an overall assessment of wealth. They will also include additional asset such as property so that the estate can be divided in the most equitable way.

The cash available from providers of occupational pension schemes to members who transfer to personal pensions is at an all-time high and could provide an important opportunity in a current divorce. There are complex issues at stake in assessing the respective benefits and expert financial advice is required. Many financial advisers specialising in divorce work have obtained a specialist qualification in pension transfers.

How Anstee & Co can help with pensions in divorce.

As independent financial advisers, we work closely with solicitors and other professionals. We have the specialist qualification to give advice on pension sharing. Also, as financial advisers, we are aware that everyone’s situation is different so we take the time to understand our clients and what they are trying to achieve.

Our offices are in Kettering, Stamford and London. We also make use of meeting rooms in Northampton, Bedford, Towcester and Wellingborough. Also, our team of specialist financial adviser cover Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Warwickshire and Bedfordshire. Meetings can also be arranged at your home or place of work.

Finally, the initial meeting is free so please feel free to contact us to see how we can help.

Advances in medical science have seen life expectancy increase. Over two-thirds of the United Kingdom population, are now aged over fifty. That’s over 21 million people. Also for the first time in history, two-thirds of this number are aged over sixty. That’s fourteen million people. Half a million people are over ninety years old and one in three babies currently being born is expected to live to over one hundred. So, planning for your retirement has never been more important.

How will living longer affect your finances?

Unfortunately, the benefits of a longer life are often offset by declining health. Figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show that a man retiring at the age of sixty-five would only be expected to live for a further ten years in generally good health. A woman of the same age would have eleven and a half years of good health. Also, it is estimated that over 130,000 people have to enter a care home each year.

This increased lifespan accompanying the likely decline in health is likely to create financial pressures. Research shows that the average individual spends nineteen years in retirement. However, the average United Kingdom pensioner’s savings will now be used up in just seven years.

Some members of society are better placed than others to face their financial future. The baby boomer generation accounts for a large percentage of private wealth. This is mainly due to increases in property and investment values. While some have never had it so good others are having to sell their family homes to fund the cost of long-term care.

How Anstee & Co. can help you with your retirement planning?

It is never too early to start planning for later life. Retirement is a journey, not an event. In the past, many people thought of retirement in “black and white” terms. They were either working or retired. Getting income from work or pensions. They then purchased an annuity or invested in drawdown.

The retirement journey opens the door to creative retirement planning rather than product-based solutions. In order to get the best outcomes, it is necessary to have a sound retirement plan.

The first meeting with our later life team of financial advisers is free of charge. This team of financial advisers have taken additional professional exams relating to retirement planning. To find out more click here.

How to contact Anstee & Co., financial advisers.

Furthermore, we cover Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire and Warwickshire. The team also make use of meeting rooms in Towcester, Northampton, Wellingborough, Warwick, Rothwell and Bedford.
