“All week I’ve been trying to ignore the slight sore throat, slight earache and sneezing and that stiff neck feeling of having slightly swollen glands. I’ve eaten loads of vegetables, taken Echinacea and had plenty of sleep but this morning I’m feeling worse than I have all week. I’m having to face the fact that it’s 50/50 whether I’m fit enough to ride 100 miles on Sunday. I’m gutted as I’ve done over 1,000 miles training for this, but it’s foolish to undertake such a challenge when you’re not 100%.”
“So, if you were thinking of sponsoring me but haven’t done it yet, please hold off until Monday when we’ll know whether I made it or not.”
Rachel will hopefully be participating in a 100-mile bike ride around London and the Surrey Hills. As well as doing it for the personal challenge, she is also raising money for Bowel Cancer UK. Rachel decided on the charity as a friend is currently suffering from stage 4 Bowel Cancer which has now spread and is inoperable. After hearing this news, it got her to thinking about another friend she lost to Bowel Cancer nearly nine years ago and she wanted to do her bit to help this killer disease.
If you would like to sponsor her then please click on this link
Alternatively, if you prefer a more hands-on approach, the friend who is currently suffering from Bowel Cancer has your caring page open to help pay for treatment unavailable on the NHS and to relieve the burden on providing for a young family whilst suffering from this awful disease and you can donate to him here
