A fond farewell to Cathy

After working as an independent financial planner with Anstee & Co. for nearly 10 years, Cathy Blake is retiring at the end of this month. The company organised an “afternoon tea” at Harrowden Hall near Wellingborough, which was attended by some staff and longstanding clients of Cathy.

After the tea, Cathy shared that she started her career in the catering industry before moving on to financial services. Initially, she worked in retail banking with NatWest and Barclays. Before joining Anstee & Co., she trained future generations of financial advisers at Barclays.

Cathy Blake, an Independent Financial Designer, said:

“It was by chance that I sat next to Caroline at a conference that I was not looking forward to attending and nearly did not go. I noticed her name tag and asked if she had any connection with Peter Anstee, who I had worked with at NatWest in Lincoln. Unbeknown to me, they were married, and the rest is history.”

Judith Chapman, one of the founder members of “Dementia Sings Out,” a Wellingborough-based community choir, gave a brief talk about its work. The choir was inspired by the television program presented by Vicky McClure after her late grandmother’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. The program showed how music can help people with dementia in many ways. The choir is looking to engage with as many people as possible by either attending the weekly singing sessions or viewing them live online. Judith thanked Anstee & Co. for its help with the charity from the beginning and continued support.

“As Cathy has mentioned, it was by chance that we re-engaged but sometimes things are just meant to happen. After a brief chat, I knew Cathy shared the same values as me of fairness and transparency within our industry. She has been a great member of the team and will be sorely missed by both the staff and her clients. I wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”

In retirement, Cathy is looking forward to spending more time with her family, and we all wish her well.
