Congratulations to our colleagues Raj Chettra and Tracy Walsh on completing the Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 14th October 2018.
This year’s very wet half marathon event took place through the City Centre of Birmingham with the 13.1 miles course taking in some of the famous sights.
A great fundraising event.
Between the two of them, they raised £438 for Cancer Research UK.
Raj ran, jogged, walked and hobbled the course (her words) in very wet conditions in a respectable time of 2 hours and 44 minutes with Tracy’s amazing support. Tracey is an accomplished Ultra Marathon runner.
A personal view of the race from the runners.
When asked about the run Raj Chettra said;-
“We thoroughly enjoyed the day and the atmosphere in Birmingham was electric, despite the relentless rain and cold we finished in 2 hours 44. I was aiming for 2 hours 30, however, the leg cramps set in for the last couple of miles!”
Raj, when asked if she would do it again said:-
“Yes. I have already signed up for the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 24th March 2019 in aid of Tommy’s. My experience from yesterday will hopefully gain me a more respectable personal best in 2019.”
Tracey an experienced runner said:-
“For any runner, this was a tough event and I was proud to be able to support Raj. The finish line was a massive relief for everyone. The event was very well organised with a great atmosphere from the crowds despite the weather. Looking forward to doing it all again next year.”
Caroline Anstee Managing Director of Anstee & Co. said:-
“All of us at Anstee & Co are very proud of Tracy’s and Raj’s achievements. Not only for their personal sacrifice with a gruelling training programme but also they worked hard at the fundraising. We are all proud of their running achievements in atrocious weather conditions. Well done!”
